Winter is coming. That is the message I am hearing in the wind today, a stiff breeze from the north-west. It has blown away all thought of the past weeks’ benign warmth. This wind comes straight to us from the great hills of the Highlands, the Monadhliaths and the Cairngorms. It smells of snow.,9.10.13

Just a hint of the coming months…

That’s a very evocative photo – I can almost smell the snow, too! The wind has definitely turned much colder, but if it brings clear weather I don’t mind it too much (yet!)

Bright, chilly days are so invigorating, aren’t they? I feel that autumn is properly here at last and find myself quite excited by it. 🙂

Just reading this post has made me shiver! Please try to keep the snow from our shores a while longer.

It has already reached the Cairngorms, but so far we have had no more than a couple of ground frosts. Even frost is a bit of a shock, though: on Sunday morning it was 20 degrees C here, and four days later it was 2!

That atmospheric photo makes me shiver. We’ve seen Ben Loyal look like that many times and it usually meant rain or snow. Brrr!
