have a heart: ranunculus

February 10, 2010

Hearts and flowers: the cliche of Valentines everywhere. This silk ranunculus heart is hanging from a shutter in an upstairs bedroom. In an old draughty house, we are very grateful for working shutters; especially as most of the rooms don’t have curtains, unlike this one. (With seventy-odd rooms, curtaining them all is out of the question, unless you happen to be something like the sultan of a small country.) I love ranunculuses – or should that be ranunculi? – despite their reminding me a little of coloured brussels sprouts.
