have a heart: angelic

February 9, 2010

A little Victorian plaster angel watches over three natural stone hearts, each found by the children on walks through woods and along river banks. The stone on the left looks a little as if it might be a carved arrow head – but it is, I think, just a stone which happens to be roughly heart-shaped: a symbol of love, not war.

I still collect rocks, after all these years. But i never met anyone else who collected heart-shaped ones. I put one on my post today, from a dear Scottish friend back in Massachusetts. He found it by the sea and sent it on to me just as it is. It looks as though it’s been mended, but that’s just the way it formed. And on the backside, there’s a perfectly carved crescent moon. How delightful! Lizzy

Just seen your beautiful Valentine’s post and the rock in question. What an exquisite combination.
