amber mornings

September 10, 2009

On the morning school run (school is four miles away and we’re not on a bus route so, like most country-dwellers, we rely on our car) I’ve been noticing that the shadows are longer and the sunshine more amber coloured than last week. It is a beautiful sight: the young pheasants picking their way through the long wet grass  under the oaks on the drive, all in a backlit glow of low sun. Autumn is on its way.
