Perthshire open studios

September 4, 2009

Anyone who has followed the link at the side to the delights of Primrose Hill Studio might like to know that Perthshire Open Studios week begins tomorrow. This part of the world seems to be stuffed with creative people, and lots of them are opening up their studios for us happy punters to have a nose around. Last year I followed a wee windy road up into the hills, looking for I can’t remember which artist, and instead discovered a bright little garden shed by a stream. Chickens and cats pottered about outside, while inside was a feast of cheery home-made crafts. This is Primrose Hill. Some time later, further up the road, I parked outside a beautiful, faded baronial mansion and wandered in up the main staircase to discover an artist painting away in oils in the drawing room, quite unfazed by interruptions from random strangers. It’s a brilliant idea; I’m sure there are versions in many other places and, if there’s one near you, I’d encourage you to seek it out. (She says earnestly.)
