A Valentine for an Ent?*
February 14, 2011
Feeling a little old and crusty this Valentine’s Day? I have the perfect Valentine for you. Look carefully at this ancient sycamore tree and you will see that it has a gnarly excrescence on it…in the shape of a heart.
Only on Dancing Beastie.
*Ent: tree-like giant or ‘shepherd of the woods’ in the mythology of J.R.R. Tolkien; derived and developed by him from the Anglo-Saxon word for giant.

Very cool
Hearts may appear anywhere, for those with the loving eye to see them. I have a friend who finds heart-shaped rocks wherever she goes.
Oh, we look for heart-shaped rocks too! The children love finding them (see my post ‘Have a heart: angelic’ from Feb 09, 2010). And Cornflower (I have a link to her blog on the right) has a post of a heart-shaped shell today. Happy thoughts.
Oh that is soo cool! And I used to imagine all woods were full of Ents when I was a child…. I loved Ents…… whenever I hug a tree I hope it’s an Ent…..
I’m fairly sure that there are still some around, so maybe you’ll be in luck one day.
Maybe this is a Valentine to one of the Entwives?
Exactly what I was wondering!
